GSS Sarajevo has its hands full: Serious injuries caused by inadequate equipment

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - During the weekend, in addition to regular duty at the Bjelašnica - Igman Ski Center, GSS - Sarajevo station secures the ski resort and daily provides care and transport for a certain number of injured people, which is not negligible.

In the last few weekends, in addition to the above, we have had a lot of interventions at excursion sites around Sarajevo (Bukovik, Igman, Trebević, etc.) where we encounter very serious injuries and fractures of extremities of our fellow citizens, according to GSS Sarajevo.

Today, in the afternoon hours, they are conducting a rescue operation on Trebević, and during Saturday, also on Bukovik, with serious fractures requiring surgical procedures.

All injuries were caused by inadequate equipment, primarily footwear not intended for walking on ice, icy surfaces, and hard snow.

GSS Sarajevo appeals to all excursionists to pay attention to adequate equipment.
