(Patria) - A protest letter to the Prime Minister of the Sarajevo Canton, Nihad Uko, and the Minister of Communal Economy, Bojan Bošnjak, was sent by a group of 21 applicants from the list for housing subsidy.
"According to the final ranking list of candidates who meet the conditions for the payment of housing subsidies for young people, published on December 27, 2023, on your official website, and later in the media, we hereby wish to express collective dissatisfaction and disappointment, concerning the possible decision on a linear redistribution of funds and the reduced proposed amount of 4,800 KM.
We, the candidates for subsidizing the housing issue of young people from the 'Final Priority List of Candidates for Subsidizing the Housing Issue of Young People,' with respect, consider it necessary to point out to you that we are humiliated and discriminated against!
We appreciate the procedure that preceded the determination of the final list up to candidate number 1142, but we point out that you could and should have noticed its shortcomings in the process of determining the conditions for candidacy, and believing in you, assume that they could lead to the outcome you and we have. Although we do not doubt that the data below are known to you, we will remind you:
- In 2023, approximately 10.6 billion KM will be collected from indirect taxes, while in 2022, 9.926 billion KM was collected, thus approximately 600-700 million more compared to 2022.
- Subsidies for solving the housing issue of young people in the Sarajevo Canton:
2017, Minister Čedomir Lukić: 94 candidates, 10,000 KM
2018, Minister Čedomir Lukić: 330 candidates, 10,000 KM
2019, Minister Damir Filipović: 461 candidates, 10,000 KM
2020, Minister Faruk Kapidžić: 272 candidates, 7,000 KM
2021, Minister Enver Hadžiahmetović: 864 candidates, 10,000 KM
2022, Minister Enver Hadžiahmetović: 511 candidates, 10,000 KM
2023, Minister Bojan Bošnjak: 1,142 candidates, approx. 4,800 KM
If for this year 2023, approximately 4,800 KM is paid out, the stated amount will be the smallest in the last 6 years, despite the fact that in 2023 the largest amount from indirect taxes was collected. This year compared to 2017, there is also an extreme increase in real estate market prices.
We, the candidates from the final list up to number 1142, which humiliates and discriminates against us, know and believe that a solution can be found that will preserve faith in you, confirm justice, and ensure that the will to stay in this city and our country will not be endangered.
Dear Prime Minister and esteemed Minister, you too are a generation of young people!
Give us a chance! Do not destroy our hope! Show and prove to us that it is worth living here!
Otherwise, you lose us, humiliated and discriminated individuals from the 'Final List 1142,' people who still believe in you. We, the candidates from the 'Final List 1142,' do not threaten your political ego by demanding that humanity and morality be its foundation. On the contrary. Our reaction, pointing out the destruction of our dignity through humiliation and discrimination, is a signpost for you. Do not allow the humiliation of people who believe in you. Understanding and will lead to a solution that exists.
Considering all the above, we expect the Government of the Sarajevo Canton, led by all ministries, to make a fair and acceptable decision for every applicant on the list, which means ensuring the promised funds according to the previously announced public call in the amount of 10,000 to 12,000 KM, as was the case in previous years.
If you allowed such a draft based on already defined criteria to pass, then we also expect your decision in accordance with that," they state in the letter.
