Group 'Mirzino jato' returns to the scene: We will revive true values

SARAJevo, (Patria) - The cult Sarajevo band from the late 70s and early 80s, 'Mirzino jato', will soon reappear on the scene. 

The band's frontman, Mirza Alijagić, said in an interview with the Patria agency that he is trying to revive the values and times that, in his opinion, are incomparably better than they are today.

“That is my way of expressing energy and an attempt to contribute to positive changes in society in that way,” said Alijagić.

One of the new songs by 'Mirzino jato' will talk precisely about the golden period of the last century and the need for the values of mutual respect to return to all citizens in the region today. The band announces performances in several cities across former Yugoslavia.

'Mirzino jato' is a Bosnian and Herzegovinian disco-pop band from Sarajevo. The band was formed in the late 1970s under the influence of the German disco band Boney M. It consisted of Mirza Alijagić, Zuzi Zumreta Midžić, and Gordana Ivandić. They released two albums: "Šećer i med" (1979) and "Najslađi rode" (1983). All songs were written by Sead Lipovača from Divlje jagode. The band's hit became the song "Apsolutno tvoj" from the album "Šećer i med". More than half a million records of this cult band were sold. 

“Those were times that are much different than today. Quality was valued. Today, that is not quite the case. That is why I want to encourage positive values to return to our lives,” says Alijagić, adding that music can influence positive things in society.

Alijagić is returning to the scene with a completely new team, composed of professionals from almost all former Yugoslav republics.  

Although he had great popularity, Alijagić is remembered by older generations as a very polite and educated musician who did not come into conflict with his colleagues. Alijagić himself stated in an interview that he never liked drinking parties and similar gatherings. In recent years, he has been living in Austria. He is currently vacationing in Sarajevo with his family.
