Heating in Vogošća starts on November 2, but only for a few days because the Sarajevo Canton Government has not paid 'BAGS Energotehnici'

(Patria) - Although the heating season has already begun, residents of Vogošća who use the services of “BAGS Energotehnika” still do not have heat supply.

The Municipality of Vogošća has absolutely no jurisdiction over the company “BAGS Energotehnika”, which is two-thirds owned by the Government of Sarajevo Canton, but since this problem emerged, it has been actively involved in resolving the new situation to enable heat supply for the residents of Vogošća.

Municipal Mayor Migdad Hasanović received representatives of residents without heat supply today and expressed full understanding for their dissatisfaction, calling on the authorities to fulfill their legally prescribed obligations. He emphasized that, at this moment, the most important thing is to get the heating operational, and then seek long-term solutions.

If 700 households were to switch to alternative heating methods, especially electric heating, it could lead to network overload, as warned by a representative of Elektrodistribucija Sarajevo at the 40th Session of the Vogošća Municipal Council held on October 31, 2024.

Given that the company “BAGS Energotehnika” has provided a temporary solution by purchasing fuel sufficient for only a few days of heating, Assembly representative Faruk Selmanović also appealed to the Sarajevo Canton Government. He posed a question to Minister of Public Utilities Bojan Bošnjak, as well as to the Sarajevo Canton Government, asking why they are not paying for the procurement of energy as was done previously.

Residents of Vogošća took to the streets on Thursday to protest their dissatisfaction with cold radiators, as temperatures continue to drop.
