Gratz: Dragan Vrankić would need two full terms just to audit his own embezzlements!

Regarding the appointment of Dragan Vrankić as the General Auditor of the Audit Office of the Institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Dennis Gratz, President of the Main Board of Naša Stranka, spoke out.

- The Chief Auditor of BiH is a particularly sensitive position, given that one of the biggest problems of this country for decades has been the practice of embezzling public funds. Therefore, we should have a person there based on whose professional biography we can claim that they are a morally credible individual who will not be an executor of party orders. Dragan Vrankić is the complete opposite of the previous description. Not only is he politically entrenched, having been a high-ranking HDZ cadre since the war, and not only was he appointed based on political suitability, with the HDZ securing support from its coalition partners, but many financial scandals are also associated with him - Gratz said.

- Let us recall the criminal complaint against Vrankić regarding transactions between Elektroprivreda HZ HB and the company 'Mondo', which was a generous financier of the HDZ. Then, the King Tomislav Savings Bank in Čapljina, among whose founders was Vrankić, to which local authorities illegally allocated state-owned buildings. The Financial Police proved that the Municipality of Čapljina also provided money for the purchase of an apartment for Vrankić, who claimed he received the money through a loan, but the loan repayment was never proven, nor was the payment of 85,000 KM by the public company Urbing, which bought a garage for the newly appointed auditor - he explained.

- Vrankić was not exempt from involvement in the major affair regarding the recapitalization of Energopetrol, but it is particularly indicative, in the context of his new position, that he provided inaccurate data on his assets. For example, in his asset declaration before the 2006 elections, he did not state that he owned a garage, nor a property in Trebižat and a weekend house under illegal construction. The appointment of an HDZ operative, who fudges his asset declaration and who would need two terms just to audit his own embezzlements, to the position of Chief Auditor represents, along with the recent appointment of Nikola Poplašen, yet another example of the twilight of all criteria, which makes the Parliament of BiH more reminiscent of a comedy show like the Top List of Surrealists than a state parliament - Gratz concluded.
