Border policeman fired for 20 euros and breaking the law

(Patria) - The Disciplinary Commission for Police Officers of the BiH Border Police, after reviewing the submitted Request for Initiation of Disciplinary Proceedings and holding a main hearing, has made a Decision on the termination of employment for police officer Rajo K. of the Brčko Border Police Unit, who on 16.03.2020, while performing border checks at the entrance to BiH at the Brčko international border crossing, after checking persons I.A., who possessed a Croatian ID card, A.A., who possessed a Croatian ID card, F.F., who also possessed a Croatian ID card, and who were traveling in an Audi A5 vehicle, and when they approached border checks with police officer Rajo K. of the Brčko Border Police and presented him with documents for crossing the state border, Croatian ID cards, he told them that they could not cross the border crossing and enter Bosnia and Herzegovina if they did not present a BiH travel document, and that due to not possessing BiH travel documents, they had to pay a fine of 300 KM, which they could pay 150 KM each within 8 days.

When the aforementioned persons, citizens of the Republic of Croatia, asked him to return their documents so they could turn back and go to another border crossing, at the suggestion of police officer Rajo K. of the Brčko Border Police, one of the mentioned persons placed 20 euros in the driver's documents, which the police officer took and allowed them to cross the state border, thereby acting contrary to the Law on Police Officers of BiH, contrary to the Decision on Prescribing Additional Conditions for the Entry of Foreigners into Bosnia and Herzegovina of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the BiH Border Police Action Plan for Preventing the Spread of Coronavirus, and the Rulebook on the Manner of Performing Border Checks and Entering Data into Travel Documents, thus committing a serious breach of official duty under Article 105, paragraph (1), points 1), 9), and 23) of the Law on Police Officers of BiH, i.e., Article 5, paragraph (1), points 1), 9), and 23) of the Rulebook on Disciplinary Liability of BiH Police Officers, which are defined as "non-performance, negligent, untimely or careless performance of official duties", "conduct that damages the reputation of the police body", and "abuse of official position".
