Border Police of BiH receives modern border surveillance equipment and 22 junior inspectors

(Patria) - Minister of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina Nenad Nešić today attended the handover ceremony of the border surveillance system at the headquarters of the Border Police of BiH, as well as the swearing-in of the XI class of cadets of this police agency.

After donating 37 field vehicles to police agencies in BiH last year, the Government of Japan has provided surveillance systems for 20 vehicles of the Border Police of BiH and two vehicles of the RS Ministry of Interior, which will enable greater mobility and easier border surveillance.

Along with Minister Nešić, the attendees were addressed by the Ambassador of Japan to BiH Masami Kinefuchi, Director of the Border Police of BiH Mirko Kuprešaković, and Chief of the East Sarajevo Police Administration Branimir Šehovac. The Embassy and Government of Japan, following their earlier significant assistance and equipping of protection and rescue services, have thus continued to strengthen the capacities of the border security sector in BiH.

Minister Nešić emphasized that this is significant and concrete support for police agencies to perform their daily tasks more easily and efficiently. He added that the Ministry of Security of BiH will continue to strengthen the capacities of security agencies through daily activities and cooperation with international partners.

In addition to modern equipment, the Border Police has been reinforced with 22 junior inspectors.

Director Kuprešaković pointed out that the employment of young people is of invaluable importance and that it will greatly contribute to the security of all citizens of BiH, as well as to strengthening the capacities of the Border Police of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Minister Nešić emphasized that after almost three years, the stagnation has been overcome and the filling of the Border Police with young personnel has continued.

“This is extremely important not only because of the missing personnel in the Border Police, but also to give a chance to young people who, in the years ahead, will form the backbone in combating all forms of cross-border crime,” said Nešić.
