Borders of Neighbouring Countries Open Only for Freight Traffic

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Serbia has closed border crossings towards BiH for all crossings.  The exceptions are the border crossings  Karakaj, Vardište and Rača, which remain open only for freight traffic.

Due to the prevention of the spread of the coronavirus, Croatia and Montenegro have closed border crossings towards Bosnia and Herzegovina. Entry into these countries is allowed only for their citizens, foreigners with registered residence, and drivers of freight vehicles.

At the entrance to our country, there is a long queue of freight vehicles at the Bosanska Gradiška border crossing. At other border crossings, there are no longer delays, BIHAMK announced.

Among the roads with ongoing works in our country, they highlight the following roads: Crna Rijeka-Mrkonjić Grad, Sarajevo-Trnovo (Krupac), Gornji Vakuf/Uskoplje-Prozor, Grude-Ljubuški and Jablanica-Mostar (Potoci).

A ban on movement for persons under 18 and over 65 is in effect in the Federation of BiH, and as of today (22.03.), a complete ban on movement from 18:00 to 05:00 is in effect. In the RS area, movement is banned for those over 65, and from 20:00 to 05:00 a complete ban on movement is in effect. BIHAMK appeals to drivers to travel within BiH only in necessary situations and to adhere to coronavirus protection measures.

On the main road Zenica-Nemila, through the Vranduk tunnel, traffic flows in both directions from 05:00 to 21:00. From 21:00 to 00:30, vehicles are allowed through alternately, while from 00:30 to 05:00, traffic through the tunnel is suspended. During the suspension, vehicles up to 7.5 tons total weight can use the bypass through the settlement of Tetovo, and vehicles over 7.5 tons can use alternative routes Doboj-Šićki Brod- Sarajevo  i  Žepče-Zavidovići-Olovo-Sarajevo.  

Traffic is on dry pavement, and they warn of frequent landslides on numerous sections.

They advise cautious driving and note that possession of winter equipment is legally mandatory until 15.04..
