Mayor Ivo Komšić visited the National Museum

Sarajevo Mayor Ivo Komšić visited the National Museum today as part of the "I am the Museum" campaign. Accompanied by Aida Kalender, director of the "Akcija" Association, the mayor toured the exhibition of photographs by Zijah Gafić, which depicts museum workers.

In a conversation with the campaign organizers, Komšić emphasized that it is incomprehensible that the National Museum, as the foundation of our science, culture, and art, finds itself in such a position. He added that the National Museum is an institution of state level, but also a symbol of Sarajevo as the capital city.

Komšić recalled that the City of Sarajevo intends to financially support the work of seven cultural institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina from its modest budget, along with institutions of other levels of government, until their final legal status is resolved, a matter he discussed with Adil Osmanović, Minister of Civil Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, at a meeting held at the end of July. 

In the guest book, Ivo Komšić stated that as the mayor and a citizen of Sarajevo, he fully supports the civic action to save the National Museum and open it to citizens and guests of the city. This museum preserves the greatest values of our country and must be accessible to everyone.
