Mayors of Sarajevo, Banja Luka, Mostar and Dayton signed a Memorandum of Understanding

The Mayor of Sarajevo, Prof. Dr. Ivo Komšić, and the Mayor's advisor, Mila Eminović, are on a multi-day visit to Dayton on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the peace negotiations, which were held at the Wright Patterson Air Force Base near this American city. The Sarajevo delegation is visiting Dayton at the invitation of this sister city and the Committee for the Commemoration of the 20th Anniversary of the Dayton Peace Agreement, reports the Patria News Agency.  

As part of the visit program, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed today, which was signed by the Mayor of Sarajevo, Ivo Komšić, the Mayor of Banja Luka, Slobodan Gavranović, the Mayor of Mostar, Ljubo Bešlić, and the Mayor of Dayton, Nan Whaley.  

The Memorandum of Understanding officially marks the beginning of a new, stronger cooperation, the establishment of dialogue, and mutual respect between the cities of Sarajevo, Banja Luka, Mostar, and Dayton.

This document defines the areas of intercity cooperation with timelines and goals in the fields of entrepreneurship and the entrepreneurial ecosystem, infrastructural projects (water supply and sewerage), higher education, science, sports, and the exchange of experiences for the use of mediation in resolving disputes between citizens and cities.

The Memorandum is the result of discussions during the meeting of the leaders of Sarajevo, Banja Luka, Mostar, and Dayton at the Conference dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the Dayton Peace Agreement, which was held in September this year in Banja Luka.

Mayor Komšić also attended the ceremony of opening a square in honor of Ambassador Richard Holbrooke today, a prominent American diplomat and peace mediator who played a crucial role in the creation and signing of the Dayton Peace Agreement, it was announced from the City Administration.
