Mayor Karić: We will illuminate the RTV Home building as well, and continue with facade reconstructions

(Patria) - Sarajevo Mayor Benjamina Karić held a New Year's press conference where she spoke about the projects in the outgoing year, as well as plans for the next year. This is also the last year of her term, considering that local elections are in 2024.

She emphasized that great attention was focused on the reconstruction of building facades in Sarajevo, and this project will continue.

According to her, in the next year, Gospođicina kuća at Hamdije Kreševljakovića Street number 1, the former JAT skyscraper, and facades in Radićeva, Jadranska, and Mula Mustafa Bašeskija streets will be reconstructed.

"If funds allow, my idea is to reconstruct all facades in the four city municipalities, because then we would achieve the full effect and our city would shine. I am proud that this year, after difficulties, we managed to erect the monument to Tvrtko I Kotromanić on August 30th, opposite the Presidency, where it belongs and where it will remain," Karić said.

She also spoke about the reconstruction of three kindergartens and stated that they are taking care of the youngest, and children's playgrounds have also been renovated.

She also said that she regrets that the RTV Home in the municipality of Novi Grad "looks so gray and gloomy, so we want to bring a change there too".

"In cooperation with the Municipality of Novi Grad, we want to illuminate the Gray Home, and we will focus on that next year," said the mayor.

She invited citizens to switch to alternative transportation, such as using bicycles.

Speaking about the project of building a sewage network on Trebević, she rejected claims of mass construction on this mountain.

"This is exclusively a sewage network to remove septic tanks that existed as a necessity for the Sarajevo Cable Car. This is something we have done for the benefit of ecology," she added.
