Civic Alliance: It is immoral to increase councillor fees while workers have lower incomes

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The Civic Alliance (GS) Novo Sarajevo considers it immoral to increase the amount of fees for councillors at a time when workers in the real sector work sixty hours a week for monthly incomes lower than the councillor's flat-rate fee in the Novo Sarajevo Municipality, stated in a press release from this party following the adoption of the decision to increase the amount of the flat-rate fee for councillors and fees in commissions.

“Likewise, it is shameful to increase the incomes of the deputy chairpersons of the Municipal Council, who have over three times higher incomes than the average salary in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Therefore, in the coming period, GS will direct its work in the Novo Sarajevo Municipal Council towards reviewing this shocking decision,” they added in the statement.

From GS Novo Sarajevo, they state that “they will not relent in their efforts to rationalize public spending with the aim of redirecting funds to improve the lives of citizens in our municipality,” said Ozren Blagovčanin, president of the Municipal Board of GS Novo Sarajevo.
