Zenica residents still without city transport, Kasumović asks for patience

ZENICA, (Patria) - Following the blockade of the Bus Station in Zenica by employees of JKP “Zenicatrans-prevoz putnika” d.d. Zenica, which has prevented the performance of the public utility service of passenger transport in the city of Zenica, the Mayor of Zenica Fuad Kasumović, with the aim of ensuring the functioning of passenger transport, sent letters to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of ZDK, the Police Administration I Zenica, and the director and the president of the trade union organization of JKP “Zenicatrans-prevoz putnika” d.d. Zenica, requesting an end to the strike and the unblocking of the Bus Station, as well as the establishment of normal traffic flow in accordance with the law.

In addition to the above, city departments have held a series of meetings aimed at finding a solution for restoring the function of scheduled passenger transport in the city of Zenica. At the meetings, it was agreed to undertake all legally prescribed measures to enable unhindered transport for citizens. Activities are underway to sign contracts by the end of next week with licensed carriers from the Zenica area, who will provide harmonized timetables, thereby establishing regular scheduled transport for all citizens, until a permanent solution to the problem is found.

“I ask my fellow citizens to have patience for a few more days, while the departments complete the necessary procedures, and from next Friday they can already expect to have normal scheduled transport. I will not allow citizens and their obligations to suffer because of the mentioned blockades. I emphasize that during the agreement, the existing subsidies for students, pensioners, blind and partially sighted persons were also harmonized, and that part will also be resolved as previously agreed,” emphasized Mayor Kasumović.
