Citizens sue VIK due to city network failures

Sarajevo citizens are suing VIK due to failures in the city network, as cubic meters of water are spilling onto private properties, causing damage to owners.

Zahudin Tunčić from Ruđera Boškovića Street in the Sarajevo settlement of Pofalići told the BH News Agency Patria that water from the city network has been leaking into his yard for three months, damaging one of the walls of his house.
Tunčić has filed a lawsuit, seeking compensation from VIK for the material damage caused by the water to his house.

- VIK only repaired the pipe in our street two days ago, but I have already filed the lawsuit - Tunčić said.

- I reported the failure in August this year. I don't even know how many times I called VIK and begged someone from their company to come and fix the failure. Unfortunately, it took them three months, and the damage to my house has already been done - he added.

According to VIK's estimates, between 71 and 73 percent of water is lost from the city network in Sarajevo due to dilapidated installations. Meanwhile, Sarajevo citizens do not have enough water in their apartments, and the biggest water shortages occur during the summer months, writes Patria.
