Citizens do not give up: Vigils for the rescue of the General Hospital continue

Citizens who organised vigils for the rescue of the General Hospital "Prim.dr. Abdulah Nakaš" were also signing a petition and writing letters of support tonight for the doctors and staff of the hospital, which is slated for merger with the UKCS, which would ultimately lead to the closure of the hospital, writes the Bosnian news agency Patria.

Residents of Sarajevo, as well as citizens from other cities, have raised their voices against the "crime" against the General Hospital and the desire of certain individuals to shut down the hospital that served the wounded and citizens even during the toughest days of the aggression against Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Although in recent days doctors at this hospital were forced to sign a "mutual consent request" for transfer to the UKCS, which was orchestrated by the former director, now head of the UKCS, Sebija Izetbegović, today no doctor transferred to the UKCS. The General Hospital announced that the hospital is operating normally, and patients received full service.

Whether this is a temporary lull while public opinion is calmed down will be shown in the days ahead, but citizens say they will not give up and have announced vigils for Tuesday from 11:00 to 14:30.
