Citizens are dying, but for Čampara and Lukač the security situation has never been better

Citizens in Bosnia and Herzegovina often wonder if they live in the same country that Bosnian politicians talk about, because listening to them we actually live in Switzerland... And this applies to all segments of life, economic, educational, security...

Well, this morning while performing my duty as a journalist and reporting from the verdict of Husein Bilal Bosnić, I experienced a real shock. Armored vehicles, long guns, dogs jumping on the fence, barking incessantly, special checks at the entrance to the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina had a rather disturbing effect on me. Other colleagues, journalists, were also taken aback by this horrifying scene.

But, actually, the real shock came later...

Breaking news! In Ilidža, a random passerby was killed, an unfortunate cyclist who found himself in the wrong place at the wrong time...

Bank robbers, fleeing from the police, killed a man who was neither guilty nor indebted, and through my mind flashed the statement of Aljoša Čampara, the federal minister of interior affairs.

Just six days ago, Čampara stated „that for the first time in the last five years, the security situation is good, not satisfactory, as it has been until now“.

Minister Čampara, nor Dragan Lukač, the police director, have yet to comment on the cases that occurred in the previous days, and now a new problem, a big one, but it is important that „the situation is no longer satisfactory, but good“.

Thus, in the same week, in that good security situation, a shooting also occurred in broad daylight at the busiest intersection in the capital, with fire exchanged from moving cars as in action movies, and only by sheer luck no innocent person was harmed.

Earlier in the same week, the car mafia tied up a guard while „operating“ in a parking lot... Citizens catch thieves on the tram, sit on them until the police arrive, while the top officials of security services hold press conferences and boast about statistical data.

Thus, Lukač duly informs the public that „comparative indicators for nine months of this year compared to last year are more than good and encouraging. This year we have a much calmer situation without any 'tectonic disturbances' in terms of events that result in a large-scale disruption of public order and peace“.

But, isn't the murder of an innocent man, who wanted to live healthily by riding a bicycle in the fresh air, a „tectonic disturbance“, isn't that an exchange of fire from moving cars in broad daylight... Apparently not...

And while police structures sign protocols and review reports on the security situation in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, innocent and guiltless people are dying. And today in Vitez, the Conference on the current security situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina continues.

The conference is also attended by the Deputy Minister of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Mijo Krešić, and he also assesses the situation as satisfactory.

But on the ground, a different picture... Therefore, it is up to the citizens whether they will believe their own eyes or the words of those who are most responsible for this state of affairs. And it is far from satisfactory, regardless of what the statistics say.
