City of Sarajevo promises good fun for New Year's Eve: Everything is in the finalization stage

(Patria) - The City Administration, headed by Mayor Benjamina Karić, issued a statement after media reports caused confusion about the potential cancellation of the public New Year's Eve celebration.

The City of Sarajevo, as in previous years, has undertaken all activities for the realization of the Public New Year's Eve celebration project in Sarajevo this year, all with the aim of Sarajevo retaining its status as the region's New Year's center.

The City Administration of Sarajevo has been intensively working on the organization of the Public New Year's Eve celebration in the City of Sarajevo in the past period, and all activities are largely finalized.

"Earlier, the bands Letu štuke, Bombaj štampa, Zabranjeno pušenje, and Crvena jabuka were mentioned. In this regard, negotiations have been concluded with all performers, and soon, once legal procedures and statutory conditions are met, all details will be finalized," they stated in the announcement.

They emphasize that the City is also working on creative and program activities.

"The City Administration of Sarajevo must respect legal procedures, which will not jeopardize the good fun that citizens and tourists in Sarajevo are accustomed to on December 31st. The public celebration will be more than just music in front of the Eternal Flame, as organizers are also preparing a unique accompanying event called 'Sarajevo Story,' which will feature some of the popular Nadrealisti (Surrealists) who attract the attention of audiences of all generations.

At this moment, the City Administration is finalizing actions initiated on time, concerning all technical and organizational matters, agreements with the police, utility companies, as well as public transport service providers, and the selection of the technical organizer," they pointed out.

They say the focus is on impeccable organization and the safety of all visitors to ensure a complete and unique experience for the public celebration.

"In the coming period, a press conference is planned where the frontmen of the bands and the project authors will be present. The press conference itself will be conducted in an unusual style, which will somehow announce the good fun and entertainment on New Year's Eve 2024. Additionally, this is the first time that the Public New Year's Eve celebration, with its concept, is being adapted for television broadcast with state-of-the-art equipment and complex production, so those who are not in Titova Street will have the opportunity to follow this unique event on their screens, throughout the region," the reaction states.
