City of Sarajevo Funds Cleaning of Miljacka Riverbed

The City of Sarajevo has signed a contract with the company ER Project d.o.o. for the cleaning of the Miljacka riverbed from Šeher-ćehajina ćuprija to the bridge at Dolac Malta, reports the Patria news agency.

Employees of this Sarajevo-based company have already begun cleaning, removing plastic bottles, balls, brushwood, and other waste from the riverbed and a total of 48 cascades, which will be disposed of at a landfill. The project to clean the Miljacka river along this stretch will last for the next three months.

The City of Sarajevo is implementing this project in accordance with the city's Decision on the use, maintenance, and preservation of regulated riverbeds and banks of watercourses in the city area. At the same time, the City of Sarajevo finances these activities every year with the aim of improving the ecological level of cleanliness of the Miljacka River and its banks, the City Administration announced.
