Graciela Gatti Santana visited Trnopolje camp

(Patria) - President of the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Courts (IRMCT) Graciela Gatti Santana today visited the former Trnopolje concentration camp, one of the most famous, most infamous, and largest camps in the Prijedor region.

Together with her, the visit to Trnopolje was also attended by the Director of the Memorial Center Ahmed Kulanić and the President of the Association of Camp Detainees of Prijedor Jusuf Arifagić, following the opening of the International Conference on Camps in Bosnia and Herzegovina and panel discussions.

Arifagić informed the IRMCT President about the torture experienced by more than 23,000 camp detainees.

President Gatti Santana's visit represents an important step in preserving the memory of the victims and promoting justice.

A children's camp was even formed within the camp, through which many Prijedor children passed, including babies, some of whom were born there.

The Hague Tribunal determined that this was also a camp where women and girls were raped.
