Grabovica to new generations: Stay here and I wish you to achieve your dreams

(Patria) - Organized by the Ministry of Education and Upbringing and the Institute for Pre-University Education, May 5th, the Day of Remembrance of the Murdered Children of Besieged Sarajevo, was marked today. Attendees first paid tribute to the murdered children of Sarajevo by reciting Fatiha, observing a minute of silence, or in another dignified manner.

The president of the Association of Parents of Murdered Children of Sarajevo, Fikret Grabovica, addressed the attendees, stating that he is pleased with the large number of people who came to pay tribute today.

"This memorial and symbol of suffering confirms that aggression was carried out against the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina and that this city was under siege for 1425 days, during which criminals from the surrounding hills killed citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina and killed 11,541 fellow citizens, 1601 children. Children were killed intentionally, systematically. They were killed while searching for water, food, while sleeping, at home, at school. I would say in most cases during play when there was a ceasefire, when they were socializing. In many places, children were killed in groups of two, three, four.

The aggression against Bosnia and Herzegovina did not stop; it continued by other means and is still ongoing. It is very important for young people to know the truth. Those who are ready to commit evil again create their own truth. In addition to this promotion that we are doing now, we need to promote it even more and spread the truth.

This memorial obliges us, the older generation, to do everything in our power to create safer circumstances for a better and more beautiful life for new generations. Stay here and I wish you to achieve all your dreams," Grabovica said.

Participants from Sarajevo's primary and secondary schools performed a program.
