Gotovina had coffee with the man who sent him to The Hague

Ante Gotovina met today for coffee with HDZ president Tomislav Karamarko, Zadar mayor Božidar Kalmeta, and Željko Dilber. After coffee, Karamarko and Gotovina continued their socializing with a walk through Zadar, reports the Patria news agency.

Karamarko told journalists in Zadar that he had been arranging the coffee with Gotovina for some time. However, the HDZ leader claims this is not an election move. 

This meeting is particularly interesting considering the fact that Tomislav Karamarko, as head of the secret service, actively participated in Gotovina's extradition. In 2005, Karamarko claimed that activities were being carried out across Croatia to locate and arrest Gotovina. He emphasized that special attention was being paid to Gotovina's inner circle and that informational interviews were being conducted.
