Autopsy completed: 20-year-old mother of newborn baby died due to septic shock

TUZLA, (Patrai) - A 20-year-old mother of a newborn baby, identified as B.I., died at the University Clinical Center Tuzla after childbirth. This information was published on social media by the deceased mother's husband, E.I. from Srebrenik, who reported the case to the Tuzla Canton Prosecutor's Office.

The autopsy report is also complete, and Admra Arnautović from the TK Prosecutor's Office stated:

“The expert autopsy report states that the cause of death of the twenty-year-old mother, who died on March 9, 2020, at the Clinic for Gynecology and Obstetrics at UKC Tuzla, was septic shock, most likely a consequence of infection with group A pyogenic streptococcus.
Based on the husband's statement, the Prosecutor's Office immediately opened a case and, in cooperation with the Ministry of Internal Affairs of TK, all medical documentation related to the twenty-year-old girl was seized.

All necessary investigative actions are being taken, and orders will be issued for all necessary medical expert examinations to determine all circumstances related to the mother's death. All persons with direct or indirect knowledge of this event will also be interviewed,” said Arnautović
