Gordana Tadić to appear before House of Representatives PS BiH investigative committee on Monday

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The tenth session of the Provisional Investigative Committee of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH to determine the situation in judicial institutions of BiH will be held on Monday, September 14, starting at 1 PM.

Gordana Tadić, Chief Prosecutor of the BiH Prosecutor's Office, who previously did not respond to the invitation, is expected to appear before the representatives. The President of the BiH Court, Ranko Debevec, also did not appear before the committee. It is certain that the Committee members have numerous questions for the heads of these institutions.

At the last session held on September 3, conclusions were adopted inviting Alena Kurspahić – Nadarević, Chief Disciplinary Prosecutor of the Disciplinary Prosecutor's Office of the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council (HJPC), and Mirza Omerović, Deputy Chief Disciplinary Prosecutor of the HJPC Disciplinary Prosecutor's Office, to testify before the Committee at one of the upcoming sessions, the date of which will be determined later.

The Provisional Investigative Committee invites professional journalist associations – the BiH Journalists' Association, the Journalists' Association of Republika Srpska, and the BH Journalists association to appoint representatives who will appear to testify before the Committee at one of the upcoming sessions, the date of which will be determined later, on the topic of challenges faced by journalists when investigating corruption and organized crime, as well as suggestions for improving the legal framework to address these problems.

At the session held on August 27, the Committee also adopted conclusions regarding the need to submit certain data related to the work of the BiH Court and Prosecutor's Office, namely a list of cases lasting longer than five years. Data was also requested on the number of criminal charges for which no investigation has been opened for more than two years, the number of opened investigations lasting longer than two years, and the total number of indictments that have not resulted in a first-instance verdict.

The Committee was formed on May 26 and consists of: Damir Arnaut (Chairperson), Zlatan Begić, Branislav Borenović, Alma Čolo, Zukan Helez, Mirjana Marinković – Lepić, Dragan Mektić, and Mira Pekić.

The goal of the Provisional Investigative Committee is to investigate the situation in judicial institutions in BiH, with a special focus on the capacity of the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council of BiH to participate in the processes necessary for BiH's path to European Union membership. According to the conclusion adopted by the House of Representatives, the Provisional Investigative Committee is tasked with carrying out all actions necessary to achieve this goal, in accordance with the Law on Parliamentary Oversight and the Rules of Procedure.
