Goražde Croat Edim Fejzić convicted in first instance for vote buying in 2018 elections

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The Municipal Court in Goražde has issued a first-instance verdict convicting Edim Fejzić, a representative in the Cantonal Assembly of BPK Goražde and a delegate in the House of Peoples of the Parliament of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, of vote buying in the 2018 elections.

This concerns the criminal offense of Violation of Voters' Freedom of Decision-Making under the Criminal Code of FBiH.

Fejzić was sentenced in the first instance to a fine of 1,000 KM and a three-month prison sentence, which will not be executed if the accused does not commit a new criminal offense within two years, according to the Prosecutor's Office of BPK Goražde.

The cantonal prosecutor's office accused Fejzić of attempting to bribe voters in BPK Goražde on November 7, 2018, in the hallway outside the premises of the "Goraždanska priča" party in Goražde, to influence them to vote for him as a representative in the Cantonal Assembly. He handed over 100 KM to a witness from Goražde, whose identity is known to the Prosecutor's Office.

He did this to secure four additional votes for the list of representatives in the Assembly of BPK Goražde, in addition to the witness's own vote and his wife's vote, from his circle of family and friends.

The accused concluded an agreement on admitting guilt with the Prosecutor's Office, which the presiding judge accepted after the legal procedure was completed, and issued a first-instance guilty verdict.
