Goran Kovačević: Bosnia and Herzegovina is not a threat to anyone, but a solution for deradicalisation in Europe

From a security perspective, Bosnia and Herzegovina is not a threat to Croatia or any other country, and I state this responsibly based on my analyses of security studies, said Dr. Goran Kovačević, assistant professor at the Faculty of Criminalistics in Sarajevo, on Friday evening in the news programme on TV1, Patria reports.

On the contrary, Dr. Kovačević believes that „there is a danger from Croatia towards Bosnia and Herzegovina because there are elements indicating aggressive aspects of Croatian policy that can be understood as a threat to the security of Bosnia and Herzegovina.“

- Bosnia and Herzegovina is neither a base for ISIL nor a Russian enclave for action against the EU – said Dr. Kovačević

- Hiding behind the EU as a screen, Croatia is trying to achieve other goals. It is certain that a verdict will be handed down for Prlić and others for the joint criminal enterprise during the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina, where the top of the Croatian state, together with the leaders of the Croatian Republic of Herzeg-Bosnia, is directly linked to the planning of the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina – Kovačević believes.

He recalls that Radovan Karadžić also based his defence on the claim that he was fighting against Islamic radicalism, „and now we hear the same from the Croatian president, who says that Bosniaks are radicalising to the point of turning into a base for ISIL, and that Croatia must act as some kind of moral vertical.“

Kovačević is of the opinion that Bosniaks in Bosnia and Herzegovina hardly exist as a political entity. There is, he says, no response from Bosniaks to the diplomatic pressure from Croatia.

- Croatia does not benefit from having a state in the EU with a majority Muslim population and 600 years of Islamic tradition, and that state is the solution to the problems the EU now has with immigrants, who are mostly Muslims - says Kovačević, Patria reports.
