Golić: Turković slapped citizens, she also violated the BiH Presidency conclusions

SARAJevo, (Patria) - Minister of Foreign Affairs of BiH Bisera Turković, by removing the Decision on the formation of an expert team for Trgovska Gora from the agenda of today's session of the Council of Ministers, slapped the citizens of Republika Srpska and the Federation of BiH, announced the Minister for Spatial Planning, Civil Engineering and Ecology of Republika Srpska, Srebrenka Golić.

Golić stated that Turković, with her thoughtless move, destroyed the years-long efforts of the Ministry for Spatial Planning, Civil Engineering and Ecology of Republika Srpska, the Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH Staša Košarac, the Green Club in the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH, as well as all other institutions and individuals in BiH, to thwart Croatia's intentions to build a radioactive and spent nuclear waste repository right on the border with BiH and endanger the lives and health of 250,000 citizens.

Instead of Turković, as the Minister of Foreign Affairs, being the leader of activities to find a diplomatic solution with Croatia, she showed negligence and thereby supported Croatia in its intentions.

"Ms. Turković, as the head of BiH diplomacy, had to know that by removing the Decision on the formation of an expert team for Trgovska Gora, she is violating the conclusions of the BiH Presidency, which obliged all public officials to express opposition to Croatia's intentions and do everything within their jurisdiction to prevent nuclear waste from being stored in our backyard. Bisera Turković has shown elementary ignorance and, what is worse, disinterest, because her argument for removing this item 'that Croatia has not yet taken any action' is absolutely incorrect," said Golić.

She stated that Croatia, in accordance with its laws, is carrying out activities to select a legal entity for obtaining the necessary permits for the construction of this facility, and that now is the right time for BiH to appoint experts, because their work involves long-term and exhaustive fieldwork, in order to prove, based on professional and scientific facts, that radioactive waste cannot be disposed of at that location.

The construction of this repository would endanger the residents of both BiH and Croatia, as well as the ecosystem of the area, including the Una River.
