Hundreds of healthcare workers from Bosnia and Herzegovina are learning German, after Germany opened its doors to medical professionals from Bosnia and Herzegovina.
In just the last few days, more than 1,000 candidates have enrolled in a German language course at the Goethe Institute in Sarajevo. Among the candidates, there is a large number of medical workers!
Nina Nalo from the Goethe Institute told the Patria news agency that the increased interest in learning German is not only recorded this year, but was also the case last year and the year before.
- Among the participants, there are certainly many healthcare workers – Nalo confirmed.
The high salaries that Germany offers to workers from Bosnia and Herzegovina attract not only doctors, but also medical technicians, nurses, caregivers... They earn double the salary in Germany for the same job they would get in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and sometimes even more.
On the other hand, experts warn that the uncontrolled departure of healthcare workers from Bosnia and Herzegovina could weaken our country's health system. In search of new knowledge, experience, and better earnings, young and promising medical staff are leaving Bosnia and Herzegovina, while our country lacks skilled personnel. If they want to stop this, governments in Bosnia and Herzegovina must ensure better working conditions for medical professionals, professional training abroad, equip clinics, and ultimately, value their work more in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Patria writes.
