Anniversary of the crime in Štrpci

In 1993, the abduction in Štrpci occurred, when members of Serbian paramilitary units under the command of Milan Lukić abducted a group of civilians from a train in the town of Štrpci, which was traveling on the Belgrade - Bar route.

18 Bosniaks, one Croat, and one unknown person were abducted, who were subsequently liquidated, and most of them were citizens of Serbia or Montenegro, announced the non-governmental organization the Association for Social Research and Communication (UDIK).

"For this crime, Nebojša Ranisavljević was sentenced to fifteen years in prison and Mićo Jovičić to five years in prison. The trial of ten defendants is underway at the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, including Luka Dragičević, commander of the Višegrad Brigade of the VRS, and Boban Inđić, commander of the Intervention Squad in the Višegrad Brigade. At the end of 2019, the BiH Prosecutor's Office indicted Milan Lukić. The trial of Gojko Lukić, Ljubiša Vasiljević, Duško Vasiljević, Jovan Lipovac, and Dragana Đekić is underway at the court in Belgrade," stated UDIK.

They point out that twenty-eight years have passed since this war crime, and the victims' families still have no symbolic compensation "simply because their members were killed on the territory of another country".

"We consider this unacceptable and shameful. Remembering the abduction in Štrpci is our permanent duty. It is our obligation to demand that a memorial plaque be erected at the former Main Railway Station in Belgrade, from where train 671 departed, to bear witness to the war crime committed against civilians, who were primarily citizens of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia," stated UDIK.

The victims of the crime in Štrpci are: Esad Kapetanović, Ilijaz Ličina, Fehim Bakija, Šećo Softić, Rifet Husović, Senad Đečević, Ismet Babačić, Halil Zubčević, Adem Alomerović, Muhedin Hanić, Safet Preljević, Džafer Topuzović, Rasim Ćorić, Fikret Memović, Favzija Zeković, Nijazim Kajević, Zvezdan Zuličić, Jusuf Rastoder, and Toma Buzov, it was announced by UDIK.
