Anniversary of the crime against prisoners of the notorious Sušica camp

"March of Return via the Path of Salvation" is the traditional name of the Turalići-Sušica march, which marked the beginning of the commemoration of the 25th anniversary of the crime against the prisoners of the notorious Sušica camp in Vlasenica.

The Association of Camp Detainees in Bosnia and Herzegovina, together with the Majlis of the Islamic Community of Vlasenica, is commemorating the anniversary of the crime against the prisoners of the Sušica concentration camp, which from the beginning of June until the end of September 1992 was a camp for the detention, torture, rape, and killing of the Bosniak population from the municipality of Vlasenica, as well as other municipalities in Podrinje.

The Association of Camp Detainees of BiH announced that for the crimes committed in the Sušica camp, Dragan Nikolić was definitively sentenced to 20 years in prison, Predrag Bastah to 22 years in prison, and Goran Višković to 18 years in prison by the Hague Tribunal and the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Over 8,000 people, men, women, children, and the elderly, passed through and were detained in this camp under extremely inhumane conditions.

Camp detainees were subjected to various types of torture daily, physical torture, psychological abuse, various forms of sexual abuse, rape, and, finally, killings. According to ICRC data, 1,617 camp detainees were killed in this camp; however, this number is much higher considering verified facts that indicate a large number of detainees were systematically taken out of the camp and transported to the Han Ploče location, one kilometer away from Vlasenica, and killed there.
