Anniversary of Kemica's death, Sarajevo still owes him

Bosnian singer-songwriter Kemal Monteno died on 21 January 2015 at the age of 67 in Zagreb's "Rebro" hospital, where he was being treated for complications following a kidney transplant, writes Bosnian news agency Patria.

His health problems began in 2011, and from then on he was on dialysis. During that time, he also had a heart bypass.

He left behind numerous hits that he wrote for himself and others, and for his contribution he received the Šestoaprilska nagrada (April 6 Award).

Sarajevo, the city to which he dedicated the legendary song "Sarajevo, ljubavi moja" (Sarajevo, My Love), has not yet repaid him in the right way.

Monteno was buried on 28 January 2015 to the lyrics of the song "Sarajevo ljubavi moja" in the Alley of the Greats at Bare Cemetery.

On 19 January 2016, a large concert was held in Zagreb in memory of the legendary singer, „Prijatelji i Kemo - Hiljade pahulja bijelih“ (Friends and Kemo - Thousands of White Snowflakes) at the Vatroslav Lisinski Hall.
