The year behind us: Everything resembles that joke about Tito hunting storks, dead but flying!

The old year 2016 needed a few months to warm up. When it got going, it wasn't any better than the previous one. We say that about every year. May it not repeat, and those who survive will tell the tale.

In Brussels on March 22nd, 32 people were killed in a terrorist attack. A day and a half later, the most important verdict was delivered. In The Hague Tribunal, war criminal and the greatest living terrorist Radovan Karadžić was sentenced to 40 years in prison for genocide. After twenty-two years on the run from justice. His misdeed, Republika Srpska, is still on probation.

The most important sporting event for BiH: Amel Tuka was sixth at the Olympics in Rio. A surprisingly good result due to the anemia he suffered from. His blood was drained three times in a few days, so one could say that vampires work at the World Anti-Doping Agency.

On June 23rd, Britain voted to leave the European Union. Brexit disappointed Europe. Who will fill Britain's place in the European Union? Bosnia and Herzegovina is a serious candidate. If nothing else, we at least know how to pretend to be English.

In early November, Donald Trump was elected President of the United States. Just before the end of the election race, a sudden story began that he should be the winner. Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton received three million more votes, but was defeated by the electoral system.

Whoever has a better finish wins. Elections and referendums in the Western world increasingly resemble being organized by bookmakers. We are still wondering why the best candidate never wins our elections.

At the Karaiskakis stadium, the Greeks snatched victory from us in the last seconds. FIFA showed that it does not care about objectivity and punished us after the terrible outbursts of Greek fans, such as the slogan "Knife, wire, Srebrenica". They put Cyprus in our group, just as they once put a referee from Cyprus for a match against Greece in an official game.

Local elections showed that individuals are gaining strength at the expense of the Bosniak SDA. Whoever runs away from the SDA has the greatest chance of winning the elections. The quartet Mehmedović, Sokolović, Šepić, and Ahmetović only managed to meet with Bakir Izetbegović once, at the beginning of the year. He received them in the parking lot in front of the Presidency.

They handed him requests with delayed action: He observed them, but has not yet considered them. The worst part of the war ended with the fall of Aleppo, the largest Syrian city and once the largest and most beautiful city of the Levant.

After everything, Aleppo was turned into ruins. There are about thirty ongoing wars in the world, and the conflicting parties are absolutely Muslims. Dodik requested a visa. The Americans said: No visa until you sort things out.

The state was overwhelmed: Comments were heard: Give him a visa so we can pray to God that he doesn't return. Sarajevo was once shelled with cluster and sea bombs, anti-ship mines, boilers filled with explosives. Terrorists started operating with trucks. More serious crimes occurred on the promenade in Nice, and towards the end of the year, at a gathering in Berlin. Turkey was hit by terrorist crimes last year. Bombs exploded a dozen times on the streets of Turkish cities, killing hundreds of innocent people. Western media never called these crimes terrorism.

On July 15th and 16th, for the first time on TV, we could watch the attempted military coup in Turkey live. There were 290 victims. The attempt to assassinate Turkish leader Recep Erdoğan failed.

Although it was said that the Balkans was the place for the election of a new UN Secretary-General, that did not happen. Seven candidates from Vardar to Triglav groomed themselves. Of all the former Yugoslav republics, only BiH did not have a candidate. The Portuguese Antonio Guterres was elected.

Edin Džeko, in FC Roma, started his journey to the top scorer in Italy, after the Czech, German, and English leagues.

Fidel Castro died. The last and greatest political fossil of the 20th century. On December 9th, a questionnaire with 3,200 questions was delivered for BiH. The questions were translated just before the end of the old year.

Many say that we know all the right answers, we just haven't agreed on whether to answer them. We leave everything for the end, so most things happen to us towards the end of the year.

Throughout 2016, we expected the fulfillment of promises about mass employment. At the end of the year, we learned that we had exceeded the promises. We employed more than 23,000 people.

Everything resembles that joke about Josip Broz Tito hunting storks. Tito shoots three times, but the stork continues to fly. Everyone is silent, and then the conclusion is heard: Dead, but flying!
