GO SDP: Candidate from the Bosniak people for the BiH Presidency to be determined soon

BUGOJNO, (Patria) - At the session of the Main Board of the Social Democratic Party of BiH held in Bugojno, the Rulebook on candidacy was adopted, thereby opening a process within the party that will conclude with the determination of electoral lists for all levels of government across the entire country and the selection of a candidate for member of the BiH Presidency.

Support was given to the commitment of the Presidency of the SDP BiH towards the soon determination of the name of the candidate for the BiH Presidency from the Bosniak people, for whom they would secure support from other political entities and the wider community. The Main Board believes that the SDP candidate will be a member of the BiH Presidency.

The SDP's position on the amendment of electoral legislation was reaffirmed once again, that a solution for the composition of the House of Peoples of the FBiH Parliament should be reached through institutionalized mechanisms, ensuring respect for the rulings of both domestic courts and the European Court of Human Rights. It was emphasized that the SDP BiH will resolutely oppose so-called solutions that attempt to deepen discrimination and divisions in society, using all available mechanisms to prevent the realization of such dangerous intentions.

The Main Board of the SDP BiH gave strong support to the conclusions of the meeting of representatives of the SDP, Democratic Front, Our Party, and the Alliance for a Better Future, regarding attempts by the Central Election Commission of BiH to impose unconstitutional and discriminatory models for the composition of the House of Peoples of the FBiH Parliament, which contain elements of a coup d'état.

Support was given to the positive processes led by the SDP BiH in the Republika Srpska regarding joint action with other political entities, non-governmental organizations, and individuals within the Pro-European Bloc, as well as defining principles based on which some candidate could receive the support of this bloc in the race for a member of the BiH Presidency from the RS. It was once again confirmed that, as far as the SDP is concerned, this cooperation cannot include the parties most responsible for the current state of society, primarily the SNSD, SDA, and HDZ.

The Main Board condemned the adoption of the Law on the Promotion of Foreign Investments in the Republic of Croatia, by which this neighboring country legalizes and promotes the seizure of BiH property. The silence of official state institutions was deemed devastating, especially given the recent visit of the President of the Republic of Croatia to BiH, when none of the domestic state officials took the opportunity to address this issue, as well as many other open issues that the SDP has pointed out.
