GO HDZ BiH Mostar: Request of Bosniak parties is against the Statute imposed by the OHR

MOSTAR, (Patria) - The electoral process we have been waiting for 12 years is once again being jeopardized. The request of the Bosniak parties is directly against the Statute imposed by the OHR, just as was the public vote for the mayor, it was announced tonight after the adjournment of the City Council session from the GO HDZ BiH Mostar.

"Fair, democratic and transparent elections and preserving the true electoral will of the residents of Mostar must be a priority for all of us in order to transform Mostar into a European city. The decision of the Bosniak Club to once again adjourn the session for consultations leads us to a further deterioration of the political situation and inter-ethnic relations. We did not prevent and condemn illegalities in Mostar in time, nor did we save the rule of law and the integrity of the electoral process. Now we must all firmly and responsibly stand behind the entrusted duty and finally stop turning a blind eye to the gross violation of values that we call European, which are the foundation of our future actions.

We call on the Bosniak Club in the Mostar City Council to give absolute support in the fight for a fair, democratic and transparent electoral process for the mayor, which carries too much importance for both a European Mostar and a European BiH, and we call on relevant international partners to do everything in order to preserve the long-compromised integrity of the elections in Mostar.

Also, we call on all councilors to finally take responsibility and conclude the process of selecting the mayor, so that the City of Mostar gets a chance for democratization and development. Finally, we appeal to the conscience of all councilors not to mock the democratic will of the voters nor to jeopardize what should and must be a step forward after long 12 years.

The City Committee of HDZ BiH emphasizes that no further complication of matters is needed by anyone. The session of the Mostar City Council postponed for Monday must finally end with the election of the mayor, and after that, an extraordinary session of the Council must be held to adopt a decision on temporary financing for the smooth functioning of all services. Otherwise, someone will have to take responsibility for the thoughtless and unnecessary immeasurable consequences, contrary to the democratic electoral will in the City of Mostar," it was stated.
