Chief Prosecutor Claims No Information Leaks, but Judge Fazlagić Knew She Was Under Investigation

Chief Prosecutor of the Sarajevo Canton Dalida Burzić stated at today's press conference that no information leaks from this Prosecutor's Office, but it remains unclear how the fugitive former judge Lejla Fazlagić knew about the investigative actions targeting her, after which she fled to Croatia, Patria reports.

- The problem was that she went into hiding as soon as she received information that special investigative actions were being carried out. According to the international warrant we issued, she was deprived of liberty in Rijeka and is under measures of prohibition and reporting to the police station. As the Prosecutor's Office, invoking the agreement with the Republic of Croatia, we requested the extradition of their citizen as well as a citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina due to the type of criminal offense, organized crime – Burzić said.

Today it was revealed that the Prosecutor's Office received information about the commission of a criminal offense in March and April 2016, so Prosecutor Burzić should ask herself whether information is indeed leaking from the Sarajevo Canton Prosecutor's Office.

We recall, Fazlagić submitted her resignation from the position of judge of the Municipal Court on May 27, 2016, and was officially relieved of her duties on July 30, 2016. Fazlagić is suspected of being part of the organized group of Alija Delimustafić, and the Sarajevo Canton Prosecutor's Office charges them with the criminal offense of organized crime, in connection with the criminal offenses of abuse of position, violation of law by a judge, money laundering, and fraud.

She stated that this Sarajevo Canton Prosecutor's Office is conducting very complex investigations against holders of judicial functions, including one prosecutor from the Sarajevo Canton for whom an extension of detention has been requested.

- When you hear about corrupt judges and prosecutors in public, do not get the impression that we are all the same. We do not have an indictment, but perhaps there will be one this year – Burzić said.

Regarding the case "Bosna" in which SDA officials Esed Džananović, director of distribution at Elektroprivreda BiH, and Amir Zukić, general secretary of the SDA, were arrested, it was announced that this case will very soon result in a decision.

- We worked seriously and would not go before the court adventurously if we did not have sufficient grounds for suspicion for detention – said Berina Alihodžić, deputy chief prosecutor of the Sarajevo Canton.
