(Patria) - In the last two years, several former footballers, as well as coaches, have tried their hand at the role of coach of the BiH national football team. However, the results on the field have contributed to a drop in the FIFA rankings.
The situation culminated in Kenan Kodro's public statement and stormy reactions, accusations against individuals from the Association, but also the alleged sending of invitations to players while the appointment of a new coach was pending.
Who chooses the players? Who is responsible for the BiH national football team? These are questions for the leaders of the football governing body of BiH, but they rarely want to face the cameras.
Former national team player Vlatko Glavaš, a man who proved what the crest of Bosnia and Herzegovina meant to him when it was hardest, spoke about the national football team in the show "Federacija danas" on Federal Television. He rightfully bears the epithet of captain of a bygone era.
- Savo Milošević is not the problem, the Football Association and the people who chose him are the problem. Zeljković spent more time today talking about Vahid Halilhodžić and the dismissal of Meho Kodro than about Milošević himself - Glavaš commented on the decision regarding the new coach of the BiH national football team.
He adds that the Association has been unprofessional for a long time. We are the only country that has changed two coaches in five games, Glavaš adds.
He states that the dismissal of Meho Kodro was explained in public by the non-adoption of the Report, but, he says, Vico Zeljković said today that they dismissed Kodro because they thought Vahid Halilhodžić would be the new coach.
- So unprofessional, that we don't know who to believe. Zeljković started threatening Barbarez and all of us today who, according to him, are saying something against him.
We will tell him what we think. He is not someone who can give us football lessons. We know how he was brought here. His rhetoric is exactly the same as Dodik's - Glavaš is categorical.
The Association does not take responsibility, all responsibility lies with the coach, he added.
Regarding the people who lead the Association and how they are chosen, he says it's all politics.
- As long as it is like that, there will be no progress in the Football Association. The top officials are arrogant, they come with police escorts to matches, they have advisors, so even the sports director Zvjezdan Misimović does not want to take responsibility, because he chose the last coaches.
No one takes responsibility, coaches are changed, the president threatens. The only thing I ask the BiH football public and people who love BiH is not to succumb to pressure, not to boycott our national football team, but to find a way to boycott the people who lead the national team in the Football Association - Glavaš added.
Answering the question why the national team players have been silent for years in front of the cameras, why no one speaks publicly about the situation in the national football team, and whether it is fair to the nation, he states:
"National team players cannot decide anything. Džeko cannot choose a coach. No player can. But, I repeat, so that we don't go in the wrong direction, where those who do not love this country want to lead us - imagine if we boycotted our players, they would be delighted. We must not fall for it. We should give full support at every match."
The political atmosphere has spilled over into the Football Association, Glavaš claims.
- Unfortunately, it's the Football Association's turn too. We must be smart and sober and respond in an adequate way. It would not surprise me if we now play a friendly match with Russia - concluded Vlatko Glavaš.
