Glavaš, 'Captain of a Difficult Time': Leave Expertise to Experts, Work on Keeping Young People

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Vlatko Glavaš is one of the symbols of the BiH national football team, but currently there is no place for him in the Football Association of BiH, though he does not wish to comment on this fact. He says his deeds and past speak for him, and there is no need to impose himself or talk about his successes.

He is currently busy preparing for the promotion of his book "Captain of a Difficult Time" in Dusseldorf on July 8, 2018. 

This is an opportunity for all Bosnians and Herzegovinians from this region, the football Bundesliga club "Fortuna", where he was a long-time player, and others to socialize with the former captain in a sporting and friendly environment. 

Everyone who buys the book will also be doing a good deed, as all proceeds from the sale are intended for humanitarian purposes: for children without parental care and with special needs. 

"Captain of a Difficult Time" is a book about the beginnings, difficult times for all Bosnians and Herzegovinians. In 1994, in the midst of war events, it was not easy for a Croat to play for the national team of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The wounds were still deep and fresh. 

Nevertheless, Vlatko Glavaš, originally from Bugojno with a football address in Germany, despite numerous threats to his life and the lives of his family, played for the national team, later became its captain, and forever inscribed his name in golden letters in the history of the national team.

- It was not easy in that period for a Vlatko from Bugojno to accept playing for BiH, because I was the first non-Bosniak to play for the national team. But, if I were reborn tomorrow, I would do it again - Vlatko Glavaš stated earlier.

He still stands by every word and deed today and says that everyone born in BiH should wear the national team jersey, and he considers it a special honor to have become the captain of the national team.     

Without delving too much into the current situation, Glavaš emphasizes that he believes that people in BiH can live better, more beautifully, and in peace and unity.

- We need to work on keeping young people here, on the understanding that we are all equal. We have wonderful people and experts in all fields; professional matters should be left to professionals, and it would be better for everyone – Glavaš told the Patria agency.
