Hungry ZOI'84 workers protest in front of the red carpet, demanding their rights from the KS Government

Workers of the Cantonal Public Enterprise (KJP) "ZOI'84" gathered in front of the Directorate building of this enterprise in Sarajevo, demanding their rights, writes the Patria news agency. And so, since this morning, Sarajevo has had two faces: the glamorous one on the other side of the "ZOI'84" Directorate, in front of the National Theatre, with a red carpet and the Sarajevo Film Festival (SFF), and on the other side of the street, workers selling coupons to be able to come to work.

As Džavid Kurtishaj, the newly appointed acting director of the enterprise, told NAP, the workers and the management gathered to draw attention to the problems in the enterprise, because their demands regarding unpaid salaries and contributions for health and pension insurance have not been met to this day.

- We need help, there is no doubt about that, and not just moral but also material help. The owner, or rather the founder, should know that we are in big trouble and that we expect concrete steps. This company is practically facing bankruptcy - Kurtishaj told NAP.

The Supervisory Board of the enterprise informed the "ZOI'84" Trade Union that there is no solution for the payment of two outstanding salaries that were promised to the workers about 20 days ago.

- We understand that the KS is in a difficult situation, but they should also know that our workplaces cannot be the street, but Bjelašnica, Zetra, etc. We have not been asking for an eight million loan since today, but since 2012. The management will show solidarity with the workers, and we will see what our next steps will be. Because, action causes reaction. We will wait. But, it is shameful that on this day, during the opening of the SFF, we have hungry people who have not received their salaries for 12 months - added Kurtishaj, writes Patria.
