Former US President George H.W. Bush suffered a fractured neck bone in a fall at his home in Maine on Wednesday, but is in stable condition and is expected to remain in hospital for a short period, his spokesman Jim McGrath said, reports the Patria News Agency.
Bush (91), who was the 41st US President, was last hospitalized in Houston for seven days in December 2014 due to breathing difficulties.
-He fell today at his home in Maine and fractured a neck bone, McGrath said in a Twitter post after the accident.
-His condition is stable, he is doing well, but he will be fitted with a neck brace. Bush was transferred to the Maine Medical Center in Portland, and will remain in hospital "as long as necessary," McGrath said.
Bush is the father of former US President George W. Bush and Jeb Bush, a former Florida governor who is one of the most likely candidates for the Republican nomination for the 2016 presidential election.
