Where it all began: Residents of Knežina pay tribute to Halid Bešlić

(Patria) - At the Knežak spring in the birthplace of Halid Bešlić, his friends, neighbors, and relatives gathered today to pay tribute to the man who, through his songs, marked the lives of generations. In silence and sorrow, with candles and the sounds of his most famous songs, residents of Knežina and surrounding areas remembered their Halid – a humble neighbor, a great artist, and a true legend.

“Halid was always our pride, a man who never forgot where he came from. Today, at this place, we thank him for everything he gave to this people,” said one of the residents gathered at the spring, as reported by N1.

Today, gatherings and farewells in honor of Halid Bešlić are being organized worldwide – in more than 60 cities across different continents, from Europe to Australia.

The largest farewell is planned in Sarajevo, in front of the Eternal Flame, where a large number of citizens are expected to jointly bid a final farewell to the beloved singer.

Halid Bešlić will be remembered as a symbol of Bosnia and Herzegovina – for his humility, warmth, and songs that have become part of the nation's soul.
