Where is the truth: Conflicting expert testimonies on Alisa Mutap

In the continuation of the trial of Ljubo and Bekrija Seferović for a serious offense against public traffic safety and for the offense of not providing assistance to a person injured in a traffic accident and the offense of obstructing evidence, in the case of Dženan Memić's death, two teams of experts testified who examined Alisa Mutap, the sole witness to the fatal event on February 8, 2016, reports the BH news agency Patria.

Expert Abdulah Kučukalić stated that a review of the medical documentation revealed that Alisa Mutap suffers from epilepsy and is taking antiepileptic medication. It was determined that her seizures were reduced during 2015.

Kučukalić said that the CT scan from February 9, 2016, was normal, and the doctors wrote that she was conscious, oriented, communicative, and responsive to questions.

- This excludes the possibility that this injury could affect the occurrence of amnesia - said Kučukalić.

He stated that after a stressful event, partial amnesia could occur, but total amnesia would not be possible.

- These are fragmented memories that return quickly.

The expert confirmed that there were no contradictions between the testimony given to the KS Prosecutor's Office and the experts.

Explaining the possible forms of loss of consciousness for Alisa, Kučukalić said that these are short-term seizures lasting from 4 to 20 seconds, but that these seizures go unnoticed. He stated that she had anterograde amnesia. 

In the record from February 10, 2016, Alisa described the event from the night of February 8, up to the fatal moment, and said that the last thing she remembered was looking at Dženan and then losing consciousness.

She stated that she was informed at the hospital that Dženan was injured and undergoing surgery.

In the same record, it is stated that Dženan received an SMS message from an unknown number: "So where are you, Dženan?", and Alisa interpreted this to mean that the sender would do anything to separate them.

- I realized that the author was my ex-boyfriend Mirza Ploskić. I suspect that a car didn't hit us at all, or that someone attacked us from behind a tree - the record states as part of Alisa's statement.

When asked by Judge Igor Todorović if it was possible for her memory to return, Kučukalić said that it was possible for it to return or not.

Kučukalić's claims were confirmed by expert Alma Mehmedbašić Bravo. Expert Elvedina Begović stated that she conducted a psychological assessment and noted in her report "that it cannot be determined whether she is telling the truth.".

Jasminka Dželilović, a neuropsychiatrist, said that Alisa Mutap had a concussion, and that she had not had epileptic seizures since November 2015.

Dželilović stated that the injury to Alisa's head was caused by a blunt object, and when asked by the Court Panel whether such an injury could have resulted from a fall, the doctor answered affirmatively. She said that Alisa could have had both anterograde and retrograde amnesia.

The last to testify was Žarko Savić, a neuropsychiatrist, who said that Alisa could only have had brief lapses of consciousness lasting 1 to 3 seconds, which are unnoticeable.
