Gaziantep: At least 22 victims under 14 years old at bloody wedding

At least 22 victims of a suicide attack on a wedding party in Gaziantep in southeastern Turkey on Saturday evening were under 14 years old, a government official said on Monday, according to the Patria news agency.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Sunday that the suicide bomber was a child between 12 and 14 years old.

Erdogan confirmed to NTV television that 51 people died in the explosion and 69 were injured, 17 of whom are in serious condition. The Turkish official said on Monday that the 51 victims do not include the bomber.

The attack occurred in a central district of Gaziantep with a large Kurdish population when a large group of people from a Kurdish wedding celebration took to the streets to celebrate. Erdogan assesses it as "likely" that the jihadist ISIL is responsible for the attack, for which no one has yet claimed responsibility, reports Index.
