Gazi Husrev-beg Library: Meet the Rohingya Muslims – the most persecuted people in the world

A video presentation on the Rohingya Muslims of Myanmar, currently the most persecuted people in the world, has been set up in the Gazi Husrev-beg Library in Sarajevo, reports the Patria news agency.

Reisu-l-ulema of the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Husein ef. Kavazović, has launched several activities aimed at familiarising the Bosnian public with the fate of the Rohingya Muslims. The presentation will be on display until 10 September.

The Rohingya people were until recently almost unknown to the wider world public, and according to UNHCR data, from January to March 2014, more than 87,000 Rohingya were smuggled into Indonesia and Malaysia.
The Rohingya people suffer torture, rape, enslavement, confiscation of land and the right to movement. Their persecutors destroy Rohingya mosques, schools and other facilities.

In the past period, media around the world have carried images of Rohingya on boats, showing them suffering, hungry, thirsty, tearful, without help or hope, trying to escape the torture inflicted upon them by Arakan political operatives, Buddhist monks and ordinary Arakanese in Myanmar, reports NAP.
