Gavran ordered placement of minefields during the siege of Sarajevo!?

The Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, on October 1, based on a proposal from the Demining Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina, issued a decision on the preventive suspension of the Director of the Mine Action Centre in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BHMAC), Dušan Gavran.

Gavran is suspected of abuse of position or authority, accepting gifts and other benefits, and falsifying official documents, writes the Bosnian news agency Patria.

He is suspected of corruption-related crimes, i.e., irregularities in the demining process in Bosnia and Herzegovina and, in connection with that, obtaining illegal property benefits.

As a reminder, members of the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) arrested Gavran at the end of April this year, who spent a month in custody due to the risk of influencing witnesses.

Two years ago, representatives of eight demining companies in Bosnia and Herzegovina decided to speak openly about, as they stated at the time, "the criminal activities of the director (BHMAC), blackmail, extortion, and systematic destruction of companies whose owners do not accept his business methods."

An investigation followed, and then an arrest.

Who is Dušan Gavran, the man who was the undisputed ruler of BHMAC for the last 12 years?

He was appointed to the position of director in 2002. He is a former officer of the Yugoslav People's Army (JNA). During the aggression against our country, according to information available in the media, Gavran was a colonel in the Army of Republika Srpska, specifically the commander of the engineering unit of the Sarajevo-Romanija Corps, directly responsible for placing all minefields around the capital city of the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Whether Gavran will ever be held accountable for the deaths of dozens of innocent people and children, who died after the war precisely in the „fields of death“ sown on his orders, is not yet known. What is known is that so far, two commanders of the Sarajevo-Romanija Corps have been convicted in The Hague for war crimes.

Members of this corps held Sarajevo under siege for four full years. The commander of the Sarajevo-Romanija Corps from September 1992 to August 1994 was General Stanislav Galić, who was sentenced to 20 years in prison by the Hague Tribunal for sniper attacks and shelling of Sarajevo and killing civilians.

This infamous corps was taken over in August 1994, until the end of the siege of Sarajevo, by Dragomir Milošević. Under his command, the city was shelled, civilians were killed by snipers, and modified aerial bombs were used for bombing. He was sentenced to 29 years in prison.

THE ROLE OF RADOMIR KOJIĆ FROM PALA

Dušan Gavran was installed in the director position by Radomir Kojić, formerly the owner of the demining company Unipak from Pale, which for years had a monopoly on the largest and most lucrative contracts. Since the legal solutions did not specify the method for selecting the director of BHMAC, nor did they limit his mandate, Gavran held this position for a full 12 years.
