Galić gathers unionists: They demand higher wages, better uniforms, but also object to media reporting

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Director of the Border Police of Bosnia and Herzegovina Zoran Galić held a meeting with the President of the Union of the Border Police of BiH Emir Tanović and Deputy Presidents Dragan Krvavac and Dragan Matović. The meeting was also attended by the Assistant Director for Organization and Operations Dragan Kulić and the Head of the Office for Professional Standards and Internal Control Vladimir Popović.

The leadership of the Border Police of BiH and the Union, with the aim of improving the labor-legal status, are requesting from relevant institutions to increase salaries and allowances for employees of the Border Police of BiH, as the current ones are extremely low and have not been increased for a longer period of time, and to adopt as soon as possible a new regulation on uniforms because the existing one does not correspond to the current issues primarily related to the fight against illegal migration, as well as to improve working conditions and infrastructure at border crossings.

Also, the meeting discussed tendentious articles by certain media, which are related to the institution of the Border Police of BiH, the Union of the Border Police of BiH, and the leadership. With the aim of truthful and accurate informing of the
public, it is important that public information media contact the Public Relations Office of the Border Police of BiH and relevant factors in the Union so that misinformation is not spread and the public is not misinformed.

Given that the Police Committee has been formed, it was concluded at the meeting that it is necessary to complete as soon as possible the competition and other procedures within their competence, of course in accordance with the Law. The Border Police is deficient in police officers, and staffing is necessary, all with the aim of fighting all types of cross-border crime.
