FUCZ on the landslide on Trebević: Deep cracks present, terrain monitored 24 hours

(Patria) - The Federal Administration of Civil Protection (FUCZ) has commented on the landslide issue on Trebević in Sarajevo.

As they stated, the Municipal Civil Protection Headquarters organized 24-hour monitoring of the terrain at the locations of Curine njive and Bistrički potok.

- Upon inspection of the terrain, it was observed that deep cracks are still present, which have in the meantime been filled with water due to rainfall, and that water runoff is occurring above the Curine njive-playground site (part of the Municipality of Istočni Stari Grad Sarajevo). It was also determined that above a part of the playground plot at the Curine njive location, which represents the lower point of the embankment/landfill from the Trebević Hills construction site (on the left side), water is appearing that constantly flows out, and this water is neither rainwater nor precipitation from Trebević - they emphasized from FUCZ.

They noted that on the morning of October 12, excavation of previously installed drainage pipes began on a part of the embankment/landfill (near the construction of the Trebević Hills residential-commercial building), in order to preventively redirect groundwater to another location in the area of the Municipality of Istočni Stari Grad Sarajevo.

- Upon inspection of the Bistrički potok location on October 13, it was determined that the bed of Bistrički potok is still partially filled with material from the landfill and fallen trees. No new collapses of material from the landfill in the form of earth-rock material and trees were observed. During the night and early morning hours of October 14, regular terrain monitoring is planned, carried out by employees of the Civil Protection Service of the Municipality of Stari Grad Sarajevo as well as the protection and rescue service of the Municipality of Stari Grad Sarajevo - they stated.
