Franjo Topić: Croats in BiH have never had more national rights than today

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - President of HKD Napredak Franjo Topić said during an appearance on N1 television that Croats in BiH have never had greater rights than they have today.

Professor Topić spoke about the pre-election campaign, the departure of young people from the country, and the position of Croats in BiH.

Asked about the verbal wars being waged during the pre-election campaign, Topić said he would rather avoid political topics, but confirmed that a dirty campaign is being conducted.

He explained that power is an obsession, which ranks among the three most important passions in life, tied to money, power, media, and reputation.

- It is like that everywhere. In our case, it is a bit more sensitive because it is inter-ethnic, the parties are national, so it appears that the peoples are quarreling - Topić said.

Professor Topić believes that all this has a depressing effect on young people, who are leaving the country because they have no jobs.

- Here, the phenomenon is that even those who have a job and decent salaries are moving. One of the reasons is this atmosphere of tension and pessimism - Topić emphasized.

Speaking about the position of Croats in BiH, Topić says he will say one thing that will shock many.

- Life has never been better in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Croats have never had more national and religious rights. The confusion in the public often arises because it is viewed through power, through politics. Bosniaks, Serbs, and Croats are moving to Austria, where they have no national rights, only civil rights - Topić said.
