French Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina Roland Gilles will soon leave BiH after the end of his four-year mandate. He will be replaced by Claire Vodoni, writes the Bosnian news agency Patria.
During his four years in BiH, as ambassador and a proven friend of BiH, Gilles supported a number of projects of cultural and social significance.
For three years, he participated in the Bihać - Srebrenica bicycle marathon, and was particularly engaged in providing assistance after the floods in BiH. Also, as part of the commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the First World War, a series of events were organized with the support of the French Embassy in BiH, and he personally took part in the first Sarajevo Grand Prix bicycle race, with the support of the director of the Tour de France and several champions of this prestigious sports discipline.
He particularly supported the organization of the opening of the restored City Hall on May 9, as well as the concert of the Vienna Philharmonic on June 28, which was also broadcast by the French public broadcaster (France Television).
