PHOTO: Preparations for the destruction of an aerial bomb found in Bosanska Otoka are underway

Even today, from the early morning hours, preparatory works have begun on the neutralization and destruction of an unexploded aerial bomb found in the settlement of Bosanska Otoka in the municipality of Bosanska Krupa, writes the Patria News Agency.

Members of the Federal Civil Protection Administration (FUCZ) and the Armed Forces of BiH (OSBiH), in accordance with the operational plan, have started preparing the location where the bomb will be neutralized.

In order for the location to be prepared, extensive protective works must be carried out to minimize damage to surrounding facilities in the event of a bomb detonation.

Due to the construction of a protective embankment around the bomb and the protection of the walls of the nearest house facing the bomb, it is necessary to stack 54,000 sandbags and dig a two-meter-deep protective trench around the embankment.

In order to fill the sandbags on time, members of the FUCZ and OSBiH will work late into the night.

As stated at today's meeting of the Headquarters, at the moment when the representatives of the Federal Civil Protection Administration and the Armed Forces of BiH are fully ready to begin the operation of deactivating the aerial bomb, a siren will sound as a sign of "general danger" with a wailing tone lasting 100 seconds.

At that moment, all residents within a radius of 500 to 1,000 meters from the location of the bomb must be in enclosed spaces and away from glass surfaces. Upon completion of the deactivation or destruction operation of the aerial bomb, a signal will be given for the cessation of danger, and at that moment the obligation to prohibit movement within a radius of 1,000 meters ceases, allowing the population to return to their homes.
