PHOTO: Sarajevo hikers in the High Tatras of Slovakia and Poland

Sarajevo hikers spent almost a week in the High Tatras mountain range, which stretches along the border of Slovakia and Poland. The mountain range is the first European cross-border national park, established in 1948 in Slovakia.

The interesting expedition was organised by the mountaineering sports society „Brezovača“ from Hadžići. Members of the expedition provided several photographs to the Patria news agency.

The main part of the mountain range, with all the highest peaks, is located in Slovakia. The highest peak is Gerlachovský štít at 2,655 metres above sea level.

Many rare and endemic animal and plant species live in the High Tatras, including large animals such as bears, lynxes, martens, wolves, foxes...

North of the High Tatras are the Low Tatras, and the two mountain massifs are separated by the valley of the Váh river, NAP reports.
