(Patria) - The strategic interest of Bosnia and Herzegovina is integration into the European Union and NATO alliance, said state Minister of Communications and Transport Edin Forto during a meeting at the State Department with Alexander Kasanof, US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for the Western Balkans in the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs.
Kasanof emphasized that attacks on the Dayton Agreement and Bosnia and Herzegovina will not go unpunished, meaning that the US will use all available instruments - expand sanctions against those who undermine BiH and its institutions. He stressed that this is not in the interest of certain groups, but of all citizens of BiH, including the Republika Srpska.
During the meeting, strong support for European and Euro-Atlantic integrations was emphasized. It was jointly stressed that it is unacceptable for Bosnia and Herzegovina to lag behind while other countries in the region benefit from the Growth Plan for the Western Balkans.
Reform processes should be free of blockades, as the processes of integration into the EU and NATO depend on them, which are of crucial importance for peace and stability not only of BiH but of the entire region, it was concluded at the meeting between Forto and Kasanof.
